+1, though it'd be nice to be able to override the strings on a per network basis.
We run a site that sometimes changes its labels so as to reflect the current memes, and we'd like to keep the social part of it coherent with the editorial part.

What about a centralised repo, and the ability to edit some strings, network-wide, of course?

Willing to contribute to a French translation, anyway.

Hi Didier, the language system is on a per network basis.. the architecture will also allow you to have multiple languages per site.

You will have access to virtually ever bit of text in the system (so far that is around 300 records ;) ) so it wll be a busy week.

I have architected a neat way to edit all the text associated with a particular tab. Via the features and tabs section in the admin system. We should have something ready for very tentative user testing next week :) (I hope early)

Glad to hear you are willing :)
