I like it very much.

But can you make a sub-tab?

I like it - but it is not behaving for me. I have sent some support requests through.

1. The tabs will not reorder themselves - Is there a save button anywhere? (LOVE The sub tabs)

2. Is everything able to be dragged and dropped in sections? Eg: I try and try to drag a section but it keep bouncing back. I thought everything could be rearranged?

2. I am tring to delete a main tab and it is shaded grey and will not let me delete and have event details on the right hand side, weird!

3. When you insert a HTML button - on the old homepage widget you could have a heading. Has this been disabled? Eg, the heading can say OUR SPONSORS or ADVERTISE HERE and you can have an advertisement. Now there is no option to put the heading. Looks stupid.

4. On the profile page I added a HTML Box - I my profile and its says error received.

Finding my way arounnd OK, after a very long wait for it to arrive, cant wait to see the widget store.

Why cant we:
a. move items around currently in place, example; the Latest Activity Page, moving the activity list to a different location? I'd like to move the elements you already have on the Group Profile Page to different areas?
b. Use items you already have on other pages; example; I'd like to use some some of the elements on the Latest Activity Page on other Pages, such as latest groups, or new members, etc. Let us mix and match all the elements on different pages.

Well to be honest,

It is nice that the layout manager is out, but it uses mostly "Widgets".

So where is the "Widget Store"?

Can't take full advantage of this layout manager without the "Widget Store".

@olsnet You can make unlimited "sub-menu tabs" by clicking on the "New Tab" option (as compared with primary page menu tabs which you make by clicking on the "New Page" option. With the primary and sub-menu tabs, you have limitless combinations at your fingertips! Drop by the LAB if you have any further questions or wish to see more extensive examples:

The Widget Store is being held back a little bit until we've ensured that all potential bugs with Layout Manager are sorted. This will ensure that we deliver the fastest and most effective live test possible.

@SocialPreneur (and @iceman re. moving standard page elements)
1. Tabs can be reordered by dragging, they should all "stick" where moved. If they do not, then you have a bug which has been seen on some sites. That is not the normal behavior;

2. There are some minor restrictions on dragging and dropping into certain sections when you are using default page elements. Otherwise, anything goes. This is a temporary limitation due to some legacy page elements that are still scheduled to be "widgetized" so that they better scale to any shape and size in any location. Remember the original page layout was nowhere near this flexible, so the original page elements were built "to size"...these have to be updated to make them drag and drop;

2. Certain default pages do not let you delete them so as to avoid the chance of you being unable to recreate them in the future. When disabled, they are not visible to anyone visiting the site;

3. The heading option for HTML widgets is a valid point, which we will add to the list of requests we are collecting for SocialGO. You can, however, recreate this easily using basic CSS and html, and we will do a tutorial on this at WidgetLaboratory so you can see how to do the same. Good tip!

4. Not sure about the Profile page HTML error, can you reproduce this every time? If so, please send this as a discovered bug along with your details to support@socialgo.com

1. Still having problems with all of my tabs and now sub tabs - have logged suppport request. They move around OK but dont stick.

2. Without having headings available for HTML widgets I am up shit creek without a paddle.

3. LOVING IT though

4. Love how you can embed an external site but I am wondering how legal that is, Any ideas?

5. When you embed an I Frame - I can see how to change the height, but how do you change the width when it is at 100% - There should be a box you can put custom in there like the height box

Happy Easter everybody, I am away until Monday, spewing I just want to stay home and play with my new layout manager.

This seriously needs to be added to LM soon. The ability to not have immediate updates when you move things around. There should be a save button and nothing gets updated till you click it. If you are doing a bunch of changes and maintenance then you do not want visitors to see everthing going crazy in realtime. Better yet a backend save and then a publish button would be optimal.

I know its just starting but this should be pushed up to the front of the line.

@Ryan

The team has the LM page tab bug on "red alert" for Monday morning, which will probably be overnight for those of us in the USA since they are six hours ahead.

@SocialPreneur

We've added a request to the team to add HTML Title Box headings as an option so that you can type in whatever you want and it becomes a heading in the title box area.

US Courts seem to have already decided that "deep linking" and iframing are legal so long as one does not attempt to obfuscate (hide) the source of the original content in a way to confuse or deceive the end user. As such, it seems perfectly fine to do this, since you are really doing nothing more than including other services into a "mashup" that gives the user a superior browsing experience without having to jump around to different tabs.

To change the width in an iFrame, you simply use CSS or the handy "slider" that is right above the height box... drag this to some percentage that is less than 100% and you are done.

Cheers!

oh I wasn't referring to the bug. I am saying that when you do something in the layout manager it immediatly shows on the front end. This is really bad and needs to change. There needs to be a save function then a publish to the live site. Say I want to change 4 tabs put a few new modules up. You will not want this frankestein showing live as you are doing it. You will want to make the changes then publish once its how you want it.

The only other option is to pay for another premium network for testing.

this issue is being discussed at the moment.

The method that we found worked best when we developed our product on the other platform was to have a visibility option for the site Admin that allows you to make the individual page changes visible only to yourself (the page becomes invisible temporarily to anyone else).

This would be in the "Edit Page" area where it now gives you choices such as "visible to all, visible to logged-in members only, visible to logged-out, etc."

By having a distinct page or pages that you use for "experimenting" one can then take what you find to be workable and then apply it to the real page(s) without delay and without freaking people out too badly.

This is an open debate at the moment, and we are trying to balance out the needs of designers against the needs of normal users... those who would be confused by the extra option of having "live" vs. "design" modes. Keep the good ideas coming.

Thanks!
