Upgrades continue today....

Published by: Alex H on Tuesday 6th January 2009
As the traffic continues to grow at an unbelievable pace we are aware that many networks experiancing slow page loads at peak times. We are working on this 24 hours a day, scaling and optimizing the system during BETA to cope with the growth.

During the next day or so we will be adding a new bank of servers and there will be some downtime as the core servers are upgraded.

Thanks again for your patience!

Video Back Online

Published by: Alex H on Sunday 4th January 2009
We have worked through the night to bring the first part of our new video infrastructure online. Videos will now start to play again on your networks, we apologize for them being unavailable for the past 24 hours whilst we fitted the new servers. More servers will come online tomorrow to improve things further.

This week you will see a number of other improvements and fixes including improved page access speeds, the Vista upload bug fixed, date picker problems fixed and a few other problems that we are aware of.

The SocialGO team are working around the clock to refine the service during BETA and iron out any issues. That's the point of BETA and why we aren't charging anyone or placing any ads on your networks.

Thanks again for all your support and we look forward to giving your network a reliable home in 2009.

Video viewing offline for the moment....

Published by: Alex H on Saturday 3rd January 2009
We are currently prepping new video servers ready to go live in the next few days. During this time, video serving will be offline. We have been working hard over the past three weeks to get things stable, fast and reliable. We understand that at times the service has been slow, but we are on the case, and are working day and night to give you the consistancy of service you need for your networks.

We will update this blog regularly as things develop over the next few days.

Server Upgrades

Published by: Alex H on Saturday 3rd January 2009
Hi All,

Today we are commissioning the new video servers and to do so we have had to suspend video playing for a few hours.   You can still upload videos during this period.

Please check back in a few hours for the latest update.

Hopefully you will enjoy much better speeds when these servers are in place.

It Just Keeps Growing

Published by: Alex H on Wednesday 31st December 2008

Welcome to all the new networks and users that have been signing up over the last week (and especially yesterday with traffic up 30% overnight).

You will be pleased to hear that loads of new servers have arrived and should be up and running in the next 48 hours.  This will help speed things up even more and rectify the intermittent speed issues at peak times.

Uploading Media Improvements

Published by: Alex H on Tuesday 30th December 2008

Thanks to everyone for the feedback on the intermittent uploading photos/videos/music problem.  We are totally focused on the problem at the moment.  No holidays for us I'm afraid!

We did a lot of work on it yesterday and made significant progress.  In fact some of the uploading problems that you may have experienced yesterday were the result of us having to test a few things in the live environment in order to simulate the huge server loads currently being experienced.  While we made big improvements we have a few more things to sort today and hopefully everything will be back on track soon.

Traffic Keeps on Growing

Published by: Alex H on Monday 29th December 2008

Hope everyone is having a great break.  By the looks of it most of you are spending it on SocialGO.  Our traffic over the weekend went crazy and the service held up well.  There may have been some brief periods when things slowed a little, ie when America woke up.  Good morning America!

We have had a few uploading problems with video/photos/music/layouts but a fix is close.  Thanks for your patience.

All this traffic has been great to really stress test the platform and we are confident that you will quickly get an even better service as a result of all your feedback.  Keep it coming!

Have a great Holiday!

Published by: Alex H on Tuesday 23rd December 2008

Hi everyone, just a quick note to say that we are continuing to make good strides in server performance and speed! (With a big improvement today!) Additional servers are coming online constantly and we are working hard to prepare for our January release which has been delayed due to the recent influx of new networks.

Hope you all have a great holiday and we look forward to a fantastic 2009 on SocialGO.
