Google AdSense is a simple and low-risk way for publishers to quickly monetize their content. The pay-per-click ad system has created an opportunity for anyone to instantly have advertising on their website, without the hassle of having to actively sell ad space. AdSense makes up a good portion of the advertising revenue for many websites, and other websites may use AdSense to earn the bulk of their revenues. Either way, AdSense is an excellent system for monetizing your content.

In this post we present an ultimate collection of resources, tools and tips to help you make the most out of Google AdSense. Among other things, this post covers various Google AdSense tools, Firefox-extensions, WordPress-plugins and related resources.

Please feel free to suggest related tools in the comments to this post. You may also be interested in our post Google AdSense: Facts, FAQs and Tools that was published two years ago.

Design Tip: using a transparent header to really make your network stand out

Published by: Tomede on Thursday 19th March 2009 03:03am

A transparent header allows for seamless integration of your network’s background image into the header area. If employed wisely, this can make for an awsome look for your network.

Here is what you need to do:

      1.      Create a transparent image (or you can download my image from http://drop.io/transbg): in Photoshop click on file—new, change the width to 1600 and the height to 180, change background content to transparent.

      2.      Save as .png file (don’t save as .jpg)

      3.      Launch your SocialGo admin and go to Network Designer

      4.      Under the header tab click on the header image upload button, upload your file.

      5.      Remember to choose ‘full width’ as header image width.

      6.      Go to the body tab and play with the background image settings (image tiling and image start position) until you find a setting that works -'tile along y axis' and 'top center' is a good starting point.

      7.      You can also uncheck ‘show main content background color’ if you want the full effect :)

Check out my site: wiipa.socialgo.com for an example of how I implemented this idea.

Published by: ryan on Monday 16th March 2009 05:03am

Here’s an interesting article from bbc.co.uk illustrating how the more lightweight and real-time action of setting your user status is rapidly gaining ground on the traditional email as method of choice for keeping your contacts in-the-know.

Here is the full text by Darren Waters

Status updates on sites such as Facebook, Yammer, Twitter and Friendfeed are a new form of communication, the South by SouthWest Festival has heard.

“We are all in the process of creating e-mail 2.0,” David Sacks, founder of business social network Yammer said.

Tens of millions of people are using social networks to stay in touch.

The growth in such services is being heralded as the start of the real-time, pervasive web.
