      Bandwidth Storage Logging Now Available

Published by: Stivi on Sunday 17th May 2009 02:05pm

      Hi Networkers,

We hope everyone has made great use of the Free Bandwidth and Storage offer for those that joined us in February March and April to help build and grow your networks.  But alas we can no longer keep the accountants at bay and from the start of your May billing cycle we will begin charging for any overages in bandwidth and storage.

If you have any overages you will be charged at the end of your next billing date for the preceding monthly billing cycle.  For example, you will be charged at the end of your May billing cycle for what you used in May.

For most of you bandwidth & storage overages wont be a problem as only the very largest networks exceed the limits.  If you are likely to exceed your limit we have sent an email to you so that you are aware.

If you want to keep track of your bandwidth and storage consumption each month, and if necessary take action, please go to your Admin Centre http://my.socialgo.com.  On the “Overview” tab (bottom right) we have displayed your current bandwidth and storage consumption since the start of your billing current billing cycle.  You will continue to accumulate bandwidth and storage until the end of your monthly billing cycle.  At the bottom of the display it tells you how many additional blocks you have already consumed this billing cycle.  This will give you an idea how much you can expect to consume for the full monthly billing cycle.

Please note that at the end of your monthly billing cycle your bandwidth is reset to zero, but your storage continues to accumulate unless you delete content.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact our support team on support@socialgo.com.

      SocialGO launches the Widget Store!

Published by: Tom on Tuesday 12th May 2009 12:05pm

SocialGO is pleased to announce the release of the much-anticipated Widget Store.

Watch the following demonstration video (6 mins)

The team has been busy developing the new SocialGO Widget Store which is now available in your network admin center. The Store allows you to browse and add a variety of free and paid widgets to Premium SocialGO networks. Each widget adds additional native functionality instantly like video chat, games, visitor maps and more!

Because widgets are integrated at the platform level, rather than through Open-Social, they become true “white-label” features of a site. Their integrated nature improves the user experiance to bring value and uniqueness to each site compared with typical external widget offerings which look disjointed and out of place and typically inconsistant with a network's overall look and feel.

Check out WidgetLaboratory, our first official third-party widget supplier for more info on their existing and upcoming widgets.

The Widget Store works with SocialGO’s advanced Layout Manager, which we launched last month. The Layout Manager allows you to drag and drop any element of your network and now allows you to place and configure your selected widgets.

The Widget Store will continue to increase the range of modules that can be dragged into your network and is the latest step in creating a flexible, rich platform for building social websites in minutes.

Every widget is different, ranging from the professional to the silly, but all always designed to increase the engagement of your network. The widget store will be playing a central role in the future development of SocialGO as the widgets grow and improve and you guys give us feedback on what widgets you would like to be developed.

We would also like to invite you to an online workshop this Thursday, 14th May, where we will introduce the Widget Store. Please visit the 'Workshops' tab on the SocialGO Owners' Network to learn more and answer any questions you may have.

Weekly Update and Missing Page Content Solution

Published by: Alex H on Friday 1st May 2009 08:05pm
We are working on some fantastic new toys for network owners to be launched very soon and are so excited about what it means for you and your members.

This week's release paved the way for what's coming. A small piece of new functionality that you guys can have fun with is the ability to move the sidebar on your network from Left to Right and also the ability to disable SocialGO stylesheets.

You will find these new options in your admin system :

      Picture 6.png

This is a great tool for you guys to get in there and create some fantastic new themes from scratch. Let us know what you create and how you get on with it!

We also have a bit of an apology to make. When the layout manager was first released, we where supposed to depreciate the old Page Content block  in the Tabs and Pages section of your admin center. Custom content should not be placed in here if you have the Layout Manager enabled and when we fixed the problem this week, network owners that where using the Layout Manager with the Page content section where seeing their content removed.

To solve this problem follow these steps :
      1. Visit the Layout Manager at http://my.socialgo.com/
      2. Click on the page where the content is missing and then click on Edit Page (second one in). You will then see your old code in the Page Content field. Copy this to your clip board  :

      3. Then drag a fresh Custom HTML widget from the sidebar and double click on it.
      4. Paste the code from your clipboard and press save. Your content will now appear on your network again.
Problem solved, I am sorry for the confusion this has caused.

If anyone has trouble or confusion about adding content to their page watch this breif video and read the description on its process.

Have a great weekend everyone! Lot's of great things to come shortly.
