How to set up a custom domain.

      1. Purchase a domain name. Make sure you have registered the domain name with a registrar that offers custom DNS services.

      2. Every domain registrar is different in the way they are laid out, but, all will have a field for the following information, which you need to enter in to the relevant fields when logged in your domain registrar's website:

For your domain, you need the A name (e.g. yourdomainname.com) pointing to 92.60.117.57

You need the www CNAME pointing to yourdomainname.com (type in the domain name there without the w’s)

In tabular form for yourdomainname.com it’ll look like:

      yourdomainname.com A 92.60.117.57
      www CNAME yourdomainname.com

      3. Once you have changed your settings, go to your SocialGO admin center and click on 'Network details'

      4. Enter the name of the domain you have purchased in to the domain field.

      5. Hit 'Save changes' at the bottom of the page

      Pic

      6. Wait. Domain changes may take up to 72 hours to take effect.

      7. You can check the status of your domain by clicking the button labelled 'Check domain'

      8. If the domain is set up correctly, you will get this message:

If you do not see the above message, then please check you have entered all of the data correctly, or contact your domain registrar.

Mark, If by 'live' you mean functioning while you migrate, in the admin go to Access Settings. at the bottom, Check "Maintenance mode" and even enter a message that your visitors will see while you are in this mode. This locks out everyone but you (maybe moderators) then when you are done, just un check it to open for biz.

Hi Eric, Aran, Yes, you can do this. So for example: myfirst.mydomain.com A 92.60.117.57 www.myfirst.mydomain.com CNAME myfirst.mydomain.com In your Admin Center: enter myfirst.mydomain.com That way, customers that enter www.myfirst.mydomain.com (those that think that everything must begin with www) will get to myfirst.mydomain.com - and thus be at your social network.

I'd like to repeat Eric's question - can we redirect from a subdomain?

Hi Tom, I have registered for my domain name at whois.com. I believe I have successfully changed my A name with my registrar, but I don't really understand the part about the cname. When I am about to 'add a cname', i see that i have to enter details in the "Name" field and "value" field. Please advise on what I should enter into either box, assuming i have registered ABC.com
