New Admin Center screenshots now on the blog
The new admin center is a few days away. To get a preview, head over here to get a preview.
This release will contain a complete revamp of the interface, a new member manager and member billing options.
It will be followed shortly by the layout manager and widget store which we are working hard to complete.

TimeZone - Upgrades
Hi there :)
For the last few weeks there have been complaints of blogs not showing in the Magazine and Magazine Categories; after some investigation it was found that the problem was related to the way in which the system was handling TimeZone information.
After the investigation, some time was spent fixing the timezone system to allow for greater control by network owners and by the network users themselves.
The Upgrades are as follows
- Network Owners can set the default timezone for their networks in http://my.socialgo.com: This will be the default timezone that the user is given should the have an invalid country selection - Otherwise the Country selected defines the Timezone.
- When a New User signs up; the system now approximates the timezone based on the country selected. (The US like Australia and Russia are all fairly large *cough*, so New York is the default TZ in the states and the same for the larger continents as defined by the ISO2 standards)
- Blogs Publish Date; will now default to the actual time in your personally selected Timezone.
- The User is able to select their personal TimeZone from their "My Location" section, this then directly affects what they can and cant see in the magazine. Unfortunately this was causing too much confusion and potential for confusion; and thus was removed. By default, the network now uses the TimeZone that is defined by the owner in the admin system.
If you have any questions; please feel free to post them in the forum here at owners or on http://getsatisfaction.com/socialgo. and rather not PM me, that way we can deal with your questions in the open and thereby helping other Network Owners.
Regards
Ross C
Set up group, event and magazine approval settings
- If you wish to have control over more of the content of your network, you can choose to approve groups, events or blogs before they appear on your network.
- If you set up moderators on your network, they too will be able to approve or deny these requests.
- To change your approval settings, you can do so by going to your admin centre, which can be accessed via your sidebar, or at http://my.socialgo.com.
- Once inside your admin centre, click on the 'Access Settings' section.

- Once inside 'Network Access', scroll to the block titled "Require your approval when..."

- To set your network to require approval for groups and/or events and/or blog posts to the magazine, simply tick the box next to the relevant statement.
- Finally, press 'Save Changes' to save your settings.
- Requests for approval will appear in your sidebar, in the 'Moderation' section:

Create magazine categories
- As an admin, you can create categories for people to submit their blogs to.

- To set up a magazine category, click on the ‘Magazine categories’ button in your Admin Centre, which can be accessed via the ‘Launch Admin’ button in your sidebar, or by going to my.socialgo.com.

- Click on the ‘Add A Category’ button

- Enter a category name
- You can choose whether you wish your new category to be available to all users, or just to moderators and administrators. If you wish to have a section of the magazine where only the admins/moderators can post blogs, it’s a good idea to set up a category just for these users, for instance for ‘Network News’.
- To make the ‘Open to Members’ choice, select the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ button.
- To save your settings, press ‘Update Categories’

- You can edit or delete blogs in the ‘Existing Blog Categories’ list in the ‘Magazine Categories’ menu
- To edit a category, simply change the details you wish to alter, and then click ‘Update Categories’
- To delete a category, click the ‘Delete’ box next to the relevant category, followed by the ‘Update Categories’ button. Please note you cannot retrieve deleted categories!
- Once you have set all of your magazine categories, you and your users will be able to select them from the drop down menu whilst creating a blog!
